Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF or LSZH)

LSHF (a.k.a LSZH) is ideal for installations in public buildings or near sensitive equipment such as computer rooms or datacentres. Not to be confused with LSF cables, LSHF are those which emit minimal fumes in the event of fire.

Low Smoke & Fume (LSF)

Commonly referred to as LSF, these cables are made up of modified PVC compounds which can produce less HCl gas and smoke when burnt than a standard PVC cable. However, the PVC is modified to varying degrees and differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Generally speaking LSF cables still produce fairly high volumes of dense black smoke and HCl gas. With no formal standards in place to guide the user the amount of HCl gas LSF cables produce can vary between 15% to 24%. By way of comparison, standard PVC gives off up to 28% HCl and LSHF cables are those which emit no more than 0.5% HCl when burned. There is a significant difference betwee
